| 12:30 | KEYNOTE Dr. Carlo Raj CDO, Founder at INDUS INTELLECT LLC, Leading Medical Education Initiatives (BIO) Immersion Without Illusion: Trustworthy, AI-Governed Experiential Learning for a Multi-Device World — How gamified, immersive education, on the devices people already own, can be shared with the world, responsibly. Abstract — Immersive, gamified learning is widely promoted for professional education, yet its benefit is neither automatic nor evenly reachable — and the generative AI now used to produce such content is the technology least able to guarantee it will not teach something false. This keynote argues for immersion without illusion: deliver experiential, case-based learning across the devices learners already own — PC, tablet, mobile and VR — and govern the AI behind it as deliberately as the experience is designed. Generative and agentic AI are used aggressively to build these worlds, but at the point of learner contact correctness is never delegated to a live model: content is authored, expert-reviewed and machine-verified, with a human accountable for every fact taught. Whether this measurably improves outcomes is the open empirical question the talk foregrounds rather than claims — closing on a reusable rule for anyone building with AI in high-stakes learning: use AI to build, verify to teach. | 15:30 | TUTORIAL Agentic AI Dr. Giles Oatley & Zakir Shah Tutorial Details: In this hands-on tutorial, participants build a small, private clinical AI system from start to finish. We fine-tune a small language model (Gemma 3 270M, small enough to run on-premise) to turn patient intake text into structured triage summaries, then embed it inside an agent that retrieves clinical guidelines, asks for clarification when needed, and escalates urgent cases to a human. It’s interactive: attendees contribute fictional patient cases that we train the model on live, then try to break the finished system in a red-team round. All data is synthetic, so no real patient data is used, which is the tutorial’s core lesson in trustworthy, privacy-preserving AI. | 12:30 | KEYNOTE Trustworthy RWD Analytics: Aligning Industry Innovation with Education and Governance Ashwini Reddy (BIO)  Abstract: Real-world data (RWD) and real-world evidence (RWE) are increasingly shaping evidence generation across the life sciences industry, offering opportunities to accelerate development timelines, support regulatory decision-making, and improve patient outcomes. Regulatory agencies have issued evolving guidance to clarify acceptable use of RWE, emphasizing data quality, methodological rigor, transparency, and auditability. From an industry perspective, these expectations require scalable analytics platforms that support standardized data management, robust governance, reproducible workflows, and advanced analytics capable of generating regulatory-grade evidence across diverse data sources. Equally important is the role of education in enabling effective and responsible adoption of RWD analytics. Industry practitioners, data scientists, and researchers must be equipped with practical knowledge of RWD standards, analytical best practices, and regulatory expectations to ensure consistent and trustworthy evidence generation. Educational frameworks, training programs, and collaborative research environments play a critical role in bridging skill gaps and promoting cross-functional understanding between clinical, statistical, and data science teams. Our talk highlights the foundational components of a trusted RWE analytics platform and outlines long-term strategies that align industry needs with education-driven capability building to support sustainable, high-quality RWD-driven insights. | 15:30 | TUTORIAL Clinical AI Using ICU and Emergency Department Time-Series Data Dr Jaduman Singh Tutorial Details: Intensive Care Units and Emergency Departments generate large volumes of complex, time-dependent data, from vital signs and laboratory results to medications, clinical text and physiological waveforms. However, these data are rarely ready for artificial intelligence. They may be irregularly recorded, incomplete, unstructured, or contain information that was not available at the intended time of prediction. Using MIMIC-IV and practical examples from our clinical AI projects, this tutorial explores the journey from raw clinical data to AI-ready data. It will cover data preparation and alignment, missingness, unstructured clinical information, information leakage, time windows, feature representation and machine-learning approaches. Real-world examples will illustrate how different clinical questions and data types require different approaches. The session will also examine challenges including generalisability, validation, integration, governance and translating AI models into trustworthy healthcare systems. Day One Keynote by Dr. Carlo Raj MD, CDO ‘Immersion Without Illusion: Trustworthy, AI-Governed Experiential Learning for a Multi-Device World — How gamified, immersive education, on the devices people already own, can be shared with the world, responsibly.’
Our keynote this session is by Dr. Carlo — Kartik — Raj, Founder at INDUS INTELLECT LLC, Leading Medical Education Initiatives. Carlo is a physician-educator who describes himself as a Physicianeer: a clinician who does not merely teach medicine, but designs and builds the systems that deliver it.
BIO
Over more than two decades he has authored and delivered integrated USMLE, IFOM and EMREE curricula that have reached more than one hundred thousand learners worldwide through Lecturio, with a 93% learner recommendation rating for his integrated pathology curriculum, and he is a two-time Golden Apple recipient for teaching.
Until this July he served as Medical Director for MS I–IV at Khalifa University’s College of Medicine and Health Sciences in Abu Dhabi, where he heavily contributed to the MetaHub project — the university’s interdisciplinary AI and extended-reality education initiative — and where he is co-inventor on more than fifteen healthcare-innovation patent applications spanning medical sciences, robotics and computer science.
He is now Founder and Physicianeer of Apex Academy Limited in Masdar City, and Founder and Chief Executive of Indus Intellect, building expert-governed, multi-device immersive learning — among them Apex_Biochem, an Gamified Educational Experience (GEE) that turns clinical biochemistry into a walkable diagnostic experience.
His research sits precisely where this conference lives: he is principal investigator on a submitted four-million-dirham interdisciplinary proposal in rehabilitation robotics and mixed-reality therapeutics, and co-author on a registered PROSPERO systematic review of translational barriers in multimodal emotion recognition for wearable and digital health.
His talk asks the question underneath all of this: what does it actually take to build immersive, AI-generated learning that is trustworthy?

BIO
Professor Kerryn Butler-Henderson is Head, School of Nursing, Paramedicine and Healthcare Sciences at Charles Sturt University. She is a well-respected digital health academic, with more than twenty years’ experience working in health and higher education. She is known for her expertise in digital health, particularly in workforce and digital health implementation science research. Kerryn is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Digital Health (AIDH). She was recognised for her expertise in 2021 as a Future50 Health IT Leader by HIMSS and 2022 as a Telstra Health Brilliant Women of Digital Health Award recipient.
